Seven tips to deal with disruptive darlings

  1. Assess potential problems and a plan to deal with anticipated problems (i.e. seating arrangements, transitions, trigger points)
  2. Set and communicate clear expectations
  3. Make sure kids know that you are there for them
  4. Praise students’ accomplishments and efforts
  5. Minimize the attention you give to disruptive behavior
  6. Immediacy, deal with things right away and don’t let them fester (do not ignore them)
  7. You may need to enlist the parents help, get input from them to help, and let them know

Remember: “God created everyone in a unique way and try to look for the positives in children, especially those who are challenging!”
