I don’t know about you, but I’m in the middle of planning for the next ministry year (2011-2012), which includes:
[bullets icon=”0253.png”]

  • research,
  • tons of internet searches,
  • strategizing curriculum plans and themes,
  • choosing curriculum and program elements,
  • recruiting and organizing volunteers,
  • and prepping communication structures and delivery vehicles.

Sounds like fun, eh?!

I imagine that if you are a vocational children’s pastor (full-time or part-time) you’ve probably got your hands-full with your computer right now. It’s funny, I feel like I do more ministry with my computer than I do with kids in the month of August!

If you’re a volunteer leading or assisting in children’s ministry then evaluation, looking forward, planning, and recruiting seem like daunting things to get done before the school year starts and ministry with children ramps up.

I wanted to take the time to share with you what resources I lean toward in children’s ministry (plus because I told you that we need to share ideas about curriculum in my last blog post:  Curriculum?! Where Do I Start?).

So here you go:

Open |

Completely FREE resources for you and your church!

The folks @ are good sharers. Basically they create their own high-quality, amazing content for Nurseries, Children & Youth Ministries as well as Adult Sermons and Worship Experiences, they decided it was wise and prudent and “kingdom-like” to share what they produce for FREE! It’s great.

Seeds – Church on the Move

The materials … on this website are provided free of charge … as a service to Christian churches and ministries dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Kids on the Move (the children’s ministry of Church on the Move) has some great curriculum content available for FREE.

Kidology – Open Source Curriculum

Kidology Open Source Curriculum is a collection of teaching tools you download, remix, and share with others! Kidology is excited to offer a complete 3-year children’s ministry curriculum for FREE. That’s right, we’re giving it away in the Kidology Forums. Are we crazy? (Wait, don’t answer that just yet!).

Kidology has many more resource for children’s ministry available, but this is the one for FREE.

We want to help your children’s ministry. provides thousands of ideas & resources for telling kids about Jesus. All this material is 100% free for your church, home, or school.

Tony Kummer, the genius behind the website, does a phenomenal job not only creating and giving away resources, but he also lives and breathes children’s ministry.

God to the Rescue – FREE Easter Curriculum

From the creative kidmin minds of Sam Luce, Dan Scott, Jonathan Cliff and Gina McClain, came

a 5 week curriculum that unveils God’s rescue plan unveiled in the Old Testament and seen in action in the days leading up to Good Friday and Easter.

Main Street Curriculum

It’s a three year, chronological curriculum through the major stories of the Bible (scope and sequence here) that we created at Hayward Wesleyan Church. Over the years we have supplemented the curriculum with other free (or paid) resources to help teach these stories of the Bible, but the essence of the stories and the content of the story of God as it unfolds in space and time stays true. We use copyrighted activities and crafts, so we can’t freely share those. But the stories, memory verses, application ideas, review questions and coloring sheets are available on the website.

Enjoy. I hope your planning and kick-offs go well!
