Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales, has authored a new set of children’s video series, but this time Phil has a much more focused direction and intention this time around:
Buck Denver Asks … What’s in the Bible? is the 13-DVD series from VeggieTales® creator Phil Vischer. In his first new project since VeggieTales, Vischer has set out to teach kids (and parents!) the story of the Bible – God’s great rescue plan! We know the stories of Moses, Noah, David, and Jesus, but in this groundbreaking new Bible DVD series, we learn how they all fit together to tell one big, redemptive story. Vischer’s signature wit shines through with his all-new cast of characters, fast-paced flash animation, and catchy tunes. This is one journey through the Bible you won’t want to miss!
This aligns with my thoughts on the focus children’s ministry curriculum should take.
Not only does Vischer “tell one big, redemptive story” creatively and well, he also tackles theology, differing viewpoints, definitions, and interpretive elements in the biblical text in a way that children can understand.
I’ve been waiting for the whole set to be complete until I figure out how I want to incorporate this resource into our children’s ministry at my church. From time to time I have supplemented our weekly storytelling with some clips from these DVDs, and they are both well-received and extremely helpful.
